What's covered
The waste removal and minimisation services contract covers:
Waste
- non-hazardous solid waste excluding recyclable materials, liquid waste, and hazardous waste.
Recyclable materials
- office paper, newspaper, shredded paper
- plastic wrap and other materials that are capable of being recycled.
Organics
- meal leftovers
- vegetables, fruit, bread
- disposable paper towels
- compostable plates and cups
- used coffee grinds and teabags.
Technical waste
- paint, solvents, cleaning chemicals
- grease trap and interceptor waste
- battery recycling
- medical waste (including, but not limited to, sharps waste, outbreak waste, cytotoxic waste)
- packaged chemicals.
Hazardous waste
- substances that are damaging to property, the environment or dangerous to the health and safety of any person
- substances that are explosive, flammable, oxidizing, toxic or corrosive.
Electronic waste
- discarded electrical or electronic devices
- equipment or end-of-life electronics or equipment.
Electronic waste also includes whiteware and large appliances.
Agencies can talk to the supplier about their specific needs.
