Big Room Event for new government e-platform

Last month we ran a lean-agile procurement (LAP) process for a digital e-procurement platform. This approach changed the model from competitive to cooperative, says Senior Procurement Specialist Oscar Lloyd.

We invited 4 shortlisted suppliers into a ‘Big Room Event’ for 3 days. Participants developed solutions at the event, instead of submitting presentations and proposals.

Each supplier had their own break-out room for private discussions or preparation. It was an intense experience that included presentations, solution demos and open discussions. It was great to see the proposals pivoted and developed over the course of the 3 days.

"The supplier of our e-procurement platform is vital to the changes underway in government procurement. The concept of a cross-government platform was reflected in the cross-supplier cooperation."

This technology will support our procurement for the future strategy. A government e-platform will shift procurement activities to a digital environment. It will make it easier for agencies and suppliers to work together. This will also reduce reporting burdens and create better insights.

"Suppliers were still competitive for this work, but LAP fosters a cooperative environment and saves valuable time for all parties." says Oscar.
