​​The Government Property Portal (GPP)

GPP is a property management system that’s available to GPG-mandated agencies across NZ government.

What you can use it for

The property portal enables agencies to manage their property portfolio more effectively and efficiently. The modules available are:

  1. Property and lease – gives agencies a single location to manage all of their properties and leases.
  2. Space management – helps agencies best use their space and reduce their operational costs.
  3. Asset management – provides tools to help agencies manage and maintain their property and equipment assets.
  4. Facilities management – allows agencies to manage the availability and condition of their facilities and assets through work requests and provides a transparent process for logging them.
  5. Condition assessment (add on module) - helps agencies evaluate their physical assets and determine corrective action based on their risk mitigation and operational priorities

A mobile application is also available for the space management, asset management and condition assessment modules which allows agencies access to their information on the go.

Agencies are encouraged to use GPP for all property related management.

Benefits of using GPP

One property system across government means:

  • reduced costs – there’s one system for all property information that you don’t need to implement yourself
  • any ongoing upgrades, management, support and risk sits with us
  • cost of development is shared across agencies
  • build collaboration and cooperation between government entities in property and property-related activities.

Using GPP, agencies are able to:

  • better manage and use space, property and lease assets
  • reduce operational costs by managing maintenance costs of assets
  • easily maintain and report on space, assets, facilities and lease-related obligations
  • improve risk management capability and practices.

How GPG uses the property portal

Agency use of the property portal helps us take a more coordinated approach to property management. We collect data from GPP at the end of June every year, and use it to:

  • inform Government about the Crown’s estate
  • produce the annual Crown Office Estate report
  • identify brokerage opportunities for agencies by optimising the use of Crown estate
  • support an evidence-based evaluation and reporting process for our work programme.

Costs

Agencies are charged an annual fee to use GPP. The fee covers a range of services, including:

  • licensing
  • hosting
  • helpdesk support
  • upgrades and improvements to the system.

Your fee is based on the your agency's square meterage of office space, including public interface areas.

Getting access to GPP
