Reducing government fleet emissions

This initiative supports New Zealand’s transition to a net zero emissions economy by 2050.

  • 14% decrease of government vehicle CO₂ emissions
  • 20% increase of electric vehicles (including plug-in hybrids) of the total fleet
This graph shows that 174 EV/ plug-in hybrid vehicles are 17% of the government vehicle fleet for FY20/21. In FY21/22 the number of EV/plug-in hydrid vehicles has increased to 220, which are 20% of the government vehicle fleet. This results in a decrease of 14% in average CO2 emissions.

In FY21/22 the number of EV/plug-in hybrid vehicles increased to 220, which is 20% of the government vehicle fleet, resulting in a 14% decrease in average CO₂ emissions.
