Procurement Capability Index Framework

An agency’s ability to procure goods and services, manage suppliers and providers, and work with markets and sectors is an essential part of a well-functioning agency.

Last year we launched the Procurement Capability Index (PCI) Framework to assist agencies in evaluating and building their procurement capability. The Framework is based on a self-assessment of the agency’s procurement capability, across the agency as a whole. The PCI Framework enables an agency to identify areas where additional focus may be required and put in place procurement capability improvement plans.

Following feedback from Agencies, we have now updated the Procurement Capability Index (PCI) to simplify it and make it more intuitive and are pleased to launch this new PCI.

All agencies covered by the Government Rules of Sourcing are required to complete the PCI tool and annually submit their self-assessment to NZGP by 30 September.
