All-of-Government attends uLearn 2016
ulearn is an annual professional learning conference run by Core Education attracting teachers, facilitators and school leaders, from early childhood through to tertiary. Amongst three days of professional development, delegates had the opportunity to survey what exhibitors had on offer to assist in improving classroom learning; from miniature robots to collaborative Government contracts.
All-of-Government & Schools
All-of-Government (AoG) Procurement teamed up with Ministry of Education to provide a suite of initiatives to boost a school’s ability to meet their objectives. AoG contracts received a warm welcome by those already taking advantage of what is on offer. Delegates new to AoG were excited to learn the extent to which their school could receive better value for money on goods and services they are already purchasing.
As the conference was focussed on IT innovation, the AoG IT Hardware contract was one that garnered considerable attention. Delegates were happy to hear how AoG could be used to procure IT Hardware at prices not otherwise available in the public marketplace.
Education Minister Hekia Parata gave an enthusiastic speech on day two emphasising the need for collaboration in the education sector. The fact that education depends on partnership was highlighted, inspiring discussions on how best to work with others to facilitate the learning pathway. Alongside this, digital technologies were highlighted as the way forward in creating digitally capable students whose skills go beyond knowing how to use a tablet or laptop.
The AoG IT Hardware contract is but one way AoG Procurement can be responsive and contribute to New Zealand’s evolving learning curriculum. Additionally, a variety of AoG contracts exist for schools, the most popular of which are:
- Office Supplies
- Print Technology and Associated Services
- Gas for Schools – Reticulated Gas
- Air Travel and Travel Management Services
- Rental Vehicles
- Motor Vehicles
